Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. “
(Habakkuk 2:1-3)
The very fact that the Lord ask His servant to write down the vision let’s us know that He did not want him to forget it. It also makes us feel aware of how significant this vision must have been. Truly a vision to have taken seriously as though one’s life depended on it. This vision seemed to have been bigger than the servant of the Lord himself. It was not a vision just for Habakkuk, but it was for a whole nation!
Many of you have a vision. One that is bigger than yourself. So much that it’s hard for you to even get yourself to “write it down and make it plain.” But let me tell you it’s important that you take that first step in doing so. The production time frame of that vision does not start from having the thought of it. It starts once you settled yourself to write it down. There is something special about writing your goals and vision down in a journal. It’s like it becomes real! Moving from imagination to a piece of tangible matter.
I want to pause for a moment and look closely to the word CARRY in verse 2 in the NLT (New Living Translation). Whenever you have a vision you can’t keep quiet about it. When it’s a good vision you want to tell everyone you know. When others support your vision it causes that vision to take flight. But we need to make sure we share it with the right people. In fact, God made sure to say in His Word that a herald, or a runner would carry the vision. A herald is not just anyone. It’s someone that is loyal, sincere, and careful with words. Careful in sending out a message. You need to share your vision with serious folks, like-minded believers!
In closing… Oh, man! My favorite part! Is where the Lord says, “ For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. “ If I were you I’d be busting out my best dance moves right about now. Friend, we need to understand that the vision, or dreams we have is not a fictional thing! It’s a glimpse into our future. And, if we decide today to make it “plain,” meaning agreeing to go after it. Guess what?! It will surely come to pass!
Stay encouraged!
